╚═════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝
DAC HIGH-RES PGA CARD
We have customer reports of compatibility with this video adapter and
Microchannel Above Boards.
Tech Notes:
This board uses 1K byte at address C600. This address cannot be
changed. The DAC technical support phone number in the United States
is ph (617) 439-0160.
IBM 8514
We have customer reports of compatibility with this video adapter and
microchannel Above Boards.
Tech Notes:
This board uses addresses C680 to C7FF and CA00 to CA7F. These
addresses can't be changed. If expanded memory is used, the expanded
memory page frame could start at CC00.
PARADISE VGA
We have customer reports of compatibility with these video boards and
microchannel Above Boards.
Tech Notes:
This board, with a ROM BIOS area larger than other Paradise boards,
uses memory addresses C0000 to CBFFF.
VGA MEMORY USAGE
In general, VGA boards use the entire area from A000 to BFFF for video
data. VGA boards have several modes (for example, 640 x 480 with
sixteen colors and 320 x 200 with 256 colors), but they frequently
operate in EGA mode because few programs use true VGA capabilities.
In ISA systems VGA boards use addresses C000 to C7FF, which in effect
is an extension of EGA (EGA uses addresses C000 to C3FF). Most ISA VGA
boards reserve, though not necessarily use, addresses from A000 to
C7FF.
In Microchannel systems, IBM's standard PS/2 VGA doesn't occupy the
C000 to C7FF area because the BIOS supports it directly.
VIKING PS/2 VIDEO ADAPTER
We have customer reports of compatibility with this video card and
Above Boards.
Tech Notes:
This is the adapter for the Viking Moniterm high-resolution, full-page
monochrome monitor. It uses a ROM address space of 16K bytes that you
can set for any 16K-byte interval starting at address C000. These are
the available addresses:
C000-C3FF D000-D3FF
C400-C7FF D400-D7FF
C800-CBFF D800-DBFF
CC00-CFFF DC00-DFFF
This board is reported to use DMA Channel 6 and I/O Port address 3E8.
